In the place your family grew together, you are now welcoming a new family into it. Childhood bedrooms become the place you put your wedding dress on and driveways where they picked you up for your first date become the pathway your guests take to your wedding ceremony. The atmosphere is everything. The difference between a venue in the heart of the city and a venue in a lakeside neighborhood is vast. That's why widening the lens to look at the outside of the venue as well as the inside is so imperative. Different locations of venues often come with different criteria. If you are looking at a location in the city, look into city wide events taking place (mhhmmm Summerfest!!), the parking situation, and take into account heightened drive times due to traffic. If you are looking into a location in a less populated area, take into account neighborhood noise and event ordinances and look into nearby hotels. Is there enough accommodation around for all your guests?

Sometimes, the venue itself could be perfect, but the location is a lackluster match. Make sure to take your planner with you on venue tours so they can help you broaden that lens and think of points you may otherwise miss!

We love our venues, but sometimes those pesky regulations and rules can limit couples' dreams for their day (although totally understandable- everyone needs rules!)

One of the greatest joys of planning these private estate weddings is the total & complete freedom of choice. The land is a blank canvas without a customary routine. Everything can be fully customized and altered to the couple's preferences. There are very few parking, boating, or noise regulations to work around. The couple is completely free to make the right choices for their day- and that is such a beautiful thing to be able to build!
